Gateshead Preview

We look ahead to tonight's FA Cup replay

We look ahead to tonight's FA Cup replay at Gateshead.

TEAM NEWS
United will wait on the fitness of Dave Kitson and James Constable before naming a side for the game tonight. Kitson was outstanding at Mansfield on Saturday but needed treatment for a knee problem while Constable scored his 100th goal for the club but injured a foot and has been undergoing intensive treatment.

With Jake Wright, Alfie Potter, Jon Meades, Andy Whing and Deane Smalley definitely out there was a youthful look to the squad that set off for the North East yesterday with Callum O'Dowda, David Lynn, Josh Ruffels, Josh Shama, Matt Bevans and Sam Long all likely to be involved tonight.

The Opposition

Gateshead came within seconds of winning the first game until Danny Rose's late equaliser and manager Gary Mills is hoping that their fans enjoy the replay and win through to face Wrexham in the next round, also to be shown live on BT Sport:

“It’s a good night for us to look forward to,” said Mills. “I hope the fans enjoy it. They maybe didn’t enjoy the last ten minutes (of the Salisbury game on Saturday), but I hope they get through to Wrexham."

That Salisbury game saw the Heed win 3-2 with midfielder Josh Walker scoring twice in a new striker role that he is likely to continue this evening.
