March for Mitch

Fans walk from Oxford to Stevenage for Cole charity

In August a group of supporters will make an 80-mile trek from Oxford to Stevenage to raise money for the Cardiomyopathy Association in memory of former Oxford and Stevenage winger Mitchell Cole.

Cole also featured for Grays Athletic, Southend United, Hitchin Town, Biggleswade Town and Arlesey Town in an eight-year career which included winning promotion to the Championship and scoring in the FA Trophy final at Wembley.

He helped Stevenage to promotion from the Blue Square Premier in 2010 before moving to United in June of that year, until his premature retirement from football in February 2011 due to his worsening heart condition. Tragically, Mitchell died in December 2012 aged just 27.

21 Stevenage fans will walk from Oxford in aid of the Cardiomyopathy Association, a registered charity that offers information and support to families affected by the heart disease.
