Chris Wilder on United's win over Port Vale
Chris Wilder was delighted with his side as they beat second placed Port Vale at the Kassam Stadium on Saturday. Goals from Alfie Potter and Deane Smalley earned the U’s a 2-1 win and afterwards Chris told Yellow Player:
“We just wanted to win a game at home because recent results have certainly not been what we’ve wanted, so that was all really: make sure we win a game at home.
“We had to be on top of our game as they have a strong squad and a very good manager. We knew that they would come at us and try and win the game so therefore it was maybe a more open game than people are used to seeing round here. And I think that if anybody was watching that they would have seen two decent sides going at it The trick is now to keep it going.
“ I’ve not said anything in the changing room afterwards we aren’t going to be jumping through hoops or getting out the champagne as it’s just a game that we have won against an excellent side and we have to go again on Tuesday as the Rotherham game is going to be another tough test for us as pound for pound they are right up there as well.”
