Mickey Lewis shares his thoughts on last night's defeat at Oxford City
Mickey Lewis spoke to Yellow Player after last night’s game at Oxford City. He shared his thoughts with us following the disappointing result.
“I thought the first 25 minutes we started the game really well, at a good tempo, and made a few chances. Callum played very well on the left, won us a penalty and should have had another penalty as well. But we fell apart for a little bit in the ten minutes leading up to half-time. I couldn’t really see that coming but it was a big learning curve for some of our young kids who have to realise that it’s not Academy football and you have to defend properly.
“We got bullied a little bit. Fair play to Oxford City, they took their chances well and most of their shots on target went in. It was disappointing that way. We brought our own video equipment and that’s what the young boys will be watching. It’s part of their development; they have to realise they have to defend better all over the pitch.
“No one likes getting beaten, especially by that scoreline. I thought Michael Raynes was excellent playing in a really young and inexperienced back four.”
