Join us as United start their home pre-season games
United return to home action tomorrow (Saturday) as they welcome Championship contenders Birmingham City to the Kassam Stadium in a pre-season friendly (kick-off 3pm)
The U's have been impressive on the road so far against Ardley, Alloa and Berwick but face stiffer opposition against Lee Clark's side. United have no injury worries and trialist Matt Heath has recovered from a rolled ankle and may feature after sitting out the last two games. The experienced former Colchester centre-half is joined by midfielders Danny Rose and Jon Meades who both missed the game at Berwick as a precaution. Youngster Josh Shama also returns having missed the Scottish trip to rest a knee problem..
Striker Dave Kitson, and defenders David Hunt and Tom Newey, make home debuts while Ryan Clarke starts his first game since a double shoulder operation half-way through last season.
The U's will wear their new home shirt with sponsors Animalates for the very first time and will then unveil the new away kit the following Saturday as we welcome Coventry City to the Kassam Stadium.

The Opposition
Birmingham will send a full squad which is likely to include two familiar faces. Left back Liam Davis is on trial at St Andrews after leaving the U's this summer while striker Matt Green has signed for the Blues after helping Mansfield Town back into the Football league last season.
