Mickey Lewis looks forward to tonight
United will be out for revenge as they welcome Fleetwood Town to the Kassam Stadium for the first time this evening. The U’s were well beaten by the Cod Army at Highbury last month, the start of a four game streak without a win after four victories in a row. Assistant Manager Mickey Lewis told Yellow Player that his side will be looking to show their true colours this evening:
“Up until that game at Fleetwood we had won four on the trot, 12 points out of 12” Mickey said. “It wasn’t a good day at their place and we didn’t play well but since then I think our performances have been pretty good. There are fine lines in football and it could easily have been seven, eight or nine points from the last four games. That hasn’t happened and after being well beaten up there this is our chance to turn the last four games around plus we owe them one as well”
United will wait on the fitness of striker Justin Richards who limped off after a first-half collision against Bristol Rovers on Saturday.
“Justin is probably 50/50” Mickey said. “He is a little bit sore but he is a brave lad, wants to play and he is in with a chance.”
There was a determination among the players as they prepared themselves for this game. The U’s have played well without getting the results recently but will do all they can to get back to winning ways tonight:
“If you sat in the dressing room after the game on Saturday they were pretty down but they have picked themselves up really quickly and they came in on Monday and were nice and bright, talking about the game and raring to go. Fleetwood are a good side with a big squad but we have come in and been positive and we are really looking to put things right”.
