Chris Wilder's Scunthorpe Reaction
Manager Chris Wilder was pulling no punches after his United side were well beaten by Scunthorpe United.
“I was really disappointed and we didn’t deserve anything from the game” he told Yellow Player after the 2-0 defeat. “We didn’t turn up or show any of the qualities that we have shown for 22 games. It is the most disappointing afternoon this season by a long stretch.
“We made individual errors and gifted them a first goal. They made better decisions than us and were first to the ball. In the second half they played like the home team on the front foot and fully deserved their victory. We had an opportunity with a penalty that we missed but even if we had got something out of the game we certainly wouldn’t have deserved it. It was a bitterly disappointing afternoon and we must do a lot better if we are to kick on in the second half of the season.”
United now head for Newport on New Year’s Day looking to put things right:
“We have to show a lot better than that and you have to believe that the way we have gone about the first half of the season we will be” Chris said. “In the position we are in I didn’t expect a performance like that and we have to be much, much better at Newport and in the games that follow.”
