Youth Team Set for Season

Under 18s get ready for kick off

United’s under 18s get their season underway with the first game of the Youth Alliance season tomorrow.

Chris Allen’s youth team travel to  old rivals Swindon Town for their first game looking to build on last season’s exceptional season which saw them finish league runners up, enjoy a fine FA Cup run and have three of their players offered professional contracts.

“Pre-season has gone well” Chris told www.oufc.co.uk. “We have had seven games which I think is the most we have ever had. The lads eased into it a bit and after a 10-1 win in the first game it has been wins and draws pretty much all the way. The real target in pre-season is fitness and they have done really well on that score.

“We have six new scholars and they have been finding their feet with the rigours and the hard work that comes with being a scholar. You want them to be good off the field and I think they are adjusting well to that, and they have been good on the pitch as well.

“The second years have the chance to keep progressing so we can’t wait to get the season under way.”
