Youth Team win again

Under 18s 3 Hereford 1

United's Under 18 side made it two wins in a row as they won 3-1 at Hereford United on Saturday.

Coach Chris Allen told www.oufc.co.uk

"It was another good result. Hereford are much improved this year and tried to play football, and we went a goal down when one of our defenders didn't get goalside of his man and a decent strike gave Hereford the lead.

"We didn't panic and we got ourselves back into the game with a really good goal which we'd workd on in the week on the training ground. Sam Humphreys came in from the right, played a little one-two and then finished really well with his left foot from 20 yards. It's always pleasing to see a move you have worked on in training pay off.

"From then on we started to get on top in the middle of the park and we scored two goals from set pieces to earn the win. They both came from the left with Callum O'Dowda delivering very good balls in. The first one led to a bit of a scramble and Leon Lalord-Dell, one of our under 17s, scored from close range to make it 2-1.

"Then Callum sent in another set piece and one of their lads turned it into the net to make it 3-1 with an own goal.

"It was good to get a win but we can do better in terms of performance and I talked to them afterwards about taking a bit more care in the final third and about the midfield taking ownership and responsibility. That is the key thing to learn from the game."
