Pre-match thoughts from the Gaffer
After a hectic start to the season United boss Chris Wilder has had a little time to reflect on his side’s start to the season after a week with no midweek fixture. The U’s prepare to travel to Burton Albion on Saturday looking to get back to winning ways in the league but the Manager was in reflective mood as he spoke to Yellow Player.
“It’s definitely been good to have a little break and assess things.” Chris told us. “We have made a decent start. We have done OK in the cup competitions, had a fantastic result against Swindon last week and a decent result against Bournemouth but were disappointed to lose up at Leeds. Our league form has generally been good although I’m disappointed in our last two results.
“Now we have to make sure that we become an efficient side. I think we have played OK in the last two games but I don’t want us to play OK and lose, I want us to play OK and win. That has to be the challenge for us going into Saturday’s game.
“Considering our experienced players have been in the stands and with everything put together and what we have had available to select from, I think we can be satisfied with the start so far. Possibly the players may be a touch disappointed not to have got something out of the last two games.”
United face another tricky away game as they head for the Pirelli Stadium to take on the Brewers.
“We have to get the balance right” Chris warned “We are up against a team that have done pretty well in the cup competitions as well, they have gone to Leicester and got a result, gone to Sheffield United and got a result, so they are no mugs. They are dangerous opponents.
“We have had a tough week, we have worked hard on a couple of bits and pieces and we now have to go about our business the right way and go and get a result.”
