Captain named as npower League 2 Player of the Month
United Captain Jake Wright's superb start to the season has been recognised as he has been awarded the npower League 2 Player of the Month award.
Jake has been in inspirational form at the back this season and was delighted to be honoured by the panel of former Charlton Athletic manager Alan Curbishley, Sky Sports pundit Don Goodman, Football League Chief Operating Officer Andy Williamson, BBC Sport’s Mark Clemmit, League Managers Association Deputy CEO Olaf Dixon and npower Sponsorship Manager Emma Collins.
Jake said:
"We have made a decent start to the season and the defence has gelled pretty quickly. It's a great honour to pick the award up on behalf of the whole team really. I am enjoying my football and it's always nice to know that people recognise that we have been playing pretty well."
Gillingham boss Martin Allen won the Manager of the Month award and npower Sponsorship Manager Emma Collins said;
