Defender back for Christmas fixtures
United will have a big boost ahead of the busy Christmas schedule with Michael Duberry returning to the first team squad.
The former Chelsea, Leeds and Stoke defender has missed the season so far after undergoing an operation on his neck in the summer but has now made a full recovery and is back in full training with the first team, playing in a practice game last week with no after-effects.
Duberry told Yellow Player:
"It has been a long hard road, maybe harder than I expected at times , but I feel good now and want to be back in the squad. There have been times where you have a little setback and just need to stay positive and work hard to make sure you come back strong. I think I have come through that and I am really happy to be back in contention again."
Manager Chris Wilder confirmed that Duberry could be in the squad for tomorrow night's FA Cup replay at home to Accrington Stanley:
"Michael has done very well and is in contention on Tuesday. Having someone of his strength and experience in and around the place is a big lift. He is a big character and a big player for us and it is excellent news to have him back."
