Oxford United are back in action this weekend following the final international break of 2024, which brought some real success for our U's players away with their nations.
Marselino Ferdinan took the headlines as the Indonesian star scored twice for his nation in a huge 2-0 win over Saudi Arabia in the World Cup Qualifiers. The result leaves Indonesia third in the table and above Saudi in the table.
Peter Kioso made his international debut for DR Congo in their African Cup of Nations Qualifier against Ethiopia. Kioso started the 2-1 defeat and was substituted at half time having fallen ill.
There was another recall to the international scene for Idris El Mizouni, as he earned his first cap for Tunisia in five years, starting in a 1-0 loss to Gambia.
Mark Harris had a very successful time with Wales, starting in both of their Nations League games, one away to Turkey, and one at home to Iceland. Wales drew 0-0 and won 4-1 in the respective fixtures, which secured their promotion to League A.
Ciaron Brown also played in Nations League action for Northern Ireland, starting in a 2-0 win over Belarus as they also secured promotion, this time to League B.
Greg Leigh was the final player away with a senior national team, but it was a less successful time for Jamaica, as they lost twice to the USA with Leigh playing in both games.
Finally, Dane Scarlett had another goal scoring appearance for the England Under-21 side. After coming off the bench to help England to a 0-0 draw against Spain, he then started and scored in a 1-1 draw away to the Netherlands.
In the main, it was a successful time for the United international boys, with no breaks now until 17 March.
