Oxford United will be on their guard when they welcome Shrewsbury Town to the Kassam Stadium on Tuesday night.
“They are a good side and have been for a while now” Sam Long told iFollow today. “You can never relax in any game in this league so even if we are in good form we will sit down, look at the way Shrewsbury play, and the Gaffer will come up with a game plan to hopefully allow us to win the game.
“We changed shape on Saturday at Stevenage and I think that caught them out. It was a battle, we knew it would be, but I thought every player stood up to that really well and won their battles. You know there are games when you have to fight like that but so far we have been able to do that whatever the opposition throw at us.
“I enjoyed the game on Saturday. It was a slightly different role for me but I think being versatile works in my favour. We all know we have competition for places all over the pitch but that keeps you on your toes and brings out the best in you, with all of it helping the team, which is the most important thing.
“The fans were incredible on Saturday and now we have ended up with three home games in a row with the Reading game postponed. We will take nothing for granted. All we can do is get Saturday out of our systems, prepare properly and then be ready when we go out there on Tuesday evening.”
