Oxford United Women have strengthened their squad with the signing of Iesha Swaby.
Iesha joins the U’s from their league opponents Crawley Wasps, having also played for Brighton Women.
Swaby knows the Southern Premier Division well with an impressive 16 goals last season and is hoping to continue that form this year with the U’s.
“I’m really excited to get going. The girls have had a great start to the season and I’m hoping to add strength through my hold-up play as well as flair and creativity, but most importantly goals” said the striker.
“The league for me personally has become even more competitive this year. It could go down to the last games. That competitiveness is what I feed off; every game there is something to play for and I can’t wait to fight for the club and this squad.”
Iesha will have had two weeks to gel with the rest of the squad before a huge top-of-the-table clash against Portsmouth Women on Sunday the 23rd of October.
“A two-week break will do me a world of good; it gives me a chance to adapt to the style of play and create relationships on and off the field. I’ve had a few sessions and the girls were welcoming and there’s a good vibe here for sure.”
The 20-year-old striker has played with summer signing Naomi Cole before and is looking forward to linking up with her again.
“I played with her at Crawley and I look up to her. She’s a great character and a friend on and off the pitch. Hopefully, she’ll provide me with plenty of assists!
“Personally, I just love attacking not only scoring but being creative so hopefully I can contribute to the goals” added Iesha when asked about playing in an attack that has scored plenty of goals already this season.
