Oxford United look to get back to winning ways when they travel to Exeter City on Saturday.
Defeat at home to Wycombe left boss Karl Robinson hurting, but as he told iFollow, it's how you cope with adversity that counts:
“I hate using the XG table as evidence but it has us in a fairly good position. But the reality is we find ourselves in a horrendous one. I don’t think anyone here is accepting where we are or happy about it. But the way the Board and the people above me and the staff and the players have all been has been second to none.
“We’re not going to deny we may have taken our eye off the ball at some stage and we aren’t going to blame bad luck all the time: it can’t be that. We accept full responsibility for our actions, we aren’t putting things down to luck. Ultimately we know that we have made mistakes, and I apologise for that with honesty.
“But having said that, you make mistakes, you learn from them and you are better because of them. Now it’s all about us believing in what we are doing. I had messages from players on Saturday that were brilliant and just reminded me that everything we are doing is for the right reasons. We all care a lot for the club and if we tarnish the reputation with results then we find that hard to accept.
“But we want to put more pride back in to things. I think we can definitely take pride from what we have done in the last four and a half years, as a group and with the fans, the city and the county to try and drive the club to the next level.
“No journey upwards happens without tough moments and it is about how we react as people and how we react as a football club that matters.
“Fans have every right to be on our backs but we are confident things will improve and we will stick together in all things. We are much better when we are a team so we want the fans to back the players. If I have to take the criticism then I will do that, it’s my responsibility, but the players come in here with the staff, they work hard and between us we are determined to get it right.”
