Boss Karl Robinson wasn’t hiding his disappointment after his side lost at Ipswich on Boxing Day.
“I thought for the first 30 minutes we were the better team” he told iFollow ”but then we conceded a silly goal and lost our concentration for the next 15 minutes. In the second half we got beaten in every area of the pitch and it’s the first time I can remember us really getting steamrollered.
“We can try and mask one or two things but we have to take responsibility and can have no shield.
“We know Ipswich are one of the best teams this league has seen for a long time but I thought for that first 30 minutes the team we picked looked good and we were certainly competing. Then after that goal we lost our concentration and then after the break we lost our belief.
“That’s something we spoke about in the dressing room. Sometimes you need these results and today puts a full stop to certain things.
“The players now understand what it takes. Maybe a lesser team would have crumbled against us in that first 30 minutes, maybe the mistakes we made wouldn’t have been punished. But today we didn’t have the quality when we were on top and then we looked very open, fragile and disconnected. The players know that.
“We thank the fans who came, as we always do, and we know that second half wasn’t us. We just have to dust ourselves down now and get ready for Charlton.”
