Our Guard of Honour on Sunday as we take on Exeter City are Banbury Irish U8’s who currently play in the Witney and District League.
Managed by Rory Mawn and coached by Rory, James Cummings and Sean Bannister, BIAFC are a local club that has been in operation for over 25 years, started by the late Mick O Driscoll - whose legacy lives on at this club.
Banbury Irish are a chartered standard and chartered development club, based in the Oxfordshire area. The U8’s team has been together for 2 years and the squad has retained all players from that time.
The aim has always been to develop the group as a team - as well as to coach them to progress their skills. The boys have developed a strong friendship over the years and always look out for each other. The parents are also great supporters and its very much a full family team effort. Although everyone wants to win, keeping it fun and developing new skills is a big part of our ethos.
Rory and James said “We’ve seen the boys develop their talents as well as bond as a team. We ensure that all players get equal play time, and we coach them to perform as a team. We win (or lose) as a team! Its really a privilege to coach them as they are so enthusiastic and dedicated to the club and the game!”
Please give them a warm welcome when they welcome the teams to the pitch on Sunday.
