Oxford United face a massive challenge in the second leg having lost 3-0 to Blackpool last night but boss Karl Robinson was in defiant mood after the game.
The return of fans created a wonderful atmosphere but Karl could only say sorry that his side couldn't give the fans that magic moment we all wanted:
“We apologise to the fans and will have to do it without them now on Friday” he told iFollow. “We apologise for not giving them that moment or a goal to celebrate with us. But we are only at half time in the tie.
“We had the same or similar chances to them but they took theirs and we didn’t. We were a bit naive for three and a half minutes when we conceded two goals but take that out of the game and I thought it looked like quite a cagey match for a lot of the time.
“Now we have to get up for Friday night. That won’t be a problem for us.
“I have seen teams overcome the odds and situations like this with half a game to go with my own eyes. Not once, many times. I’ve seen that happen: it’s not a myth or something I just made up, I have seen it happen and seen what belief, team spirit and a little bit of luck can do.
“I can’t make the luck part of it happen but we will have the other two things and if you give us a chance then that’s all we need. We still have that chance…”
