Oxford United take on Hayes & Yeading tonight in the latest of a series of pre-season friendlies.
The game, at Thame United’s ASM Stadium, is a chance for the U’s to build on wins over Oxford City and Salford at the weekend but preparations have been disrupted by a number of players having to self isolate.
Three players have tested positive for covid-19 and were kept away from the Training Ground yesterday while the rest of the squad and staff were tested.
Those results all came back negative but having shared changing rooms or been in contact with the original three players a further nine were sent home to self-isolate as a precaution.
All protocols had been followed and continue to be and the club have spoken with Health England, the EFL,Thame United and Hayes & Yeading who are all happy with the way the club has dealt with things, meaning that the game goes ahead as planned.
Clearly with 12 players missing Karl Robinson will have to make changes to his original line-up and it will mean a number of the club’s younger players getting a chance alongside the senior pros.
It should make for a very exciting game.
Kick off is at 7.30pm and admission is £10 for adults and £5 for under 16s/over 65s
Meanwhile the Under 19 side head for Biggleswade this evening for their second friendly of pre-season, while the U’s will still play their fixture at Banbury United tomorrow evening despite the covid restrictions within the squad.
