Oxford United are delighted to announce that defender Sam Long has today signed a new three year deal with the U’s.
Sam has been in outstanding form all season at right-back and having been with the club since he was eight had no hesitation in agreeing a new long term-deal with his home town club.
“I love being here and am really happy to sign” he said. “It’s not just the fact I have been here for a long time, I am ambitious and know that the club has big plans and ambitions too so I am glad they see me as part of those plans.
"It has been a tough season for everyone but we are still in there fighting for the play-offs with some big games coming up now.”
Boss Karl Robinson said:
“That’s Jack Stevens, Simon Eastwood and now Sam all agreeing new deals and that gives us real stability in defence.
"Sam has been outstanding and by the end of his new deal will have been here 21 years: that’s a double testimonial!
"But it shows tremendous loyalty from Sam and he is an outstanding young man. We are a better club, and a better team with him here and that’s because he cares so much and wants to be part of a successful Oxford United.”
