Oxford United have six games left to try and chase down a play-off place. Two of those games are against Shrewsbury Town, home and away, starting tonight at the Kassam Stadium
“Playing them twice and having Saturday’s kick off changed is all part of this season and nothing should surprise anyone any more” Karl Robinson told iFollow.
“Shrewsbury have done remarkably well while Steve Cotterill has been ill. We send our best wishes to Steve; it’s tremendous news that he is out of hospital now and having a big influence as he always does.
“We know the energy they have, the pressing angles they bring at you and they have more strength in depth than they have ever had before. We show everyone the same respect but we always know we have to be at our best to beat them.
“There are only three and a half weeks of the regular season left and you just turn your cards over now. You are not going to get any fitter or lose your fitness now and the adrenaline sees you through to the end.
“It has been an amazing year and we have all learned so much about ourselves and about football. I think with fans in the stands then we get a lift when we need it at home to Accrington, or the 6-0 at Crewe maybe doesn’t happen with home fans there. It has been a strange aura around every game and the next six games are going to carry that on.
“We’d love the fans to be there this week for two massive home games but we know they will be watching and we are really looking forward to Tuesday night and seeing if we can get another win for them.”
