Oxford United Women have a chaplain working with the team this season as someone to offer support to players and staff.
Chaplain Deborah Rooke is on hand during United’s home matchdays to offer support and guidance to players if they need it. Deborah will work closely with both players and staff as someone to turn to if they need help or advice.
Deborah told us:
“What I’m here at the club to do is to be a supportive pastoral presence if people want to talk about anything at all. I’m present on matchdays to be pastorally proactive and somebody who the players can turn to if they want to blow off steam or need any guidance.
“I am separate from the players and staff, but I felt very welcomed and part of the team by the players. I am a neutral party for anyone if they want to speak to somebody as an alternative.”
Oxford United Women are at home on Sunday as they take on Keynsham Town in the FA Women’s National League. Tickets to the game are just £5 for adults, £2 for concessions and OUFC season ticket holders and FREE for U16s
