Oxford United are delighted to announce that midfielder Alex Rodriguez Gorrin has agreed to join the club on a two-year deal, with an option for a further year.
The 25-year old midfielder grew up in Tenerife before making his way through the youth system at Sunderland. He then gained experience with spells in Australia, Portugal and Romania before joining Motherwell in 2018. There he made 24 appearances last season but having declined a new contract he joins Karl Robinson’s new-look squad and Karl was on hand to meet him and shake hands on the deal earlier today.
“There was a fair amount of interest from a lot of clubs” Karl told us. “That doesn’t surprise me because he was highly impressive last season and really caught the eye. He is a real competitor and a terrific athlete. He loves a challenge, is a good tackler and we think will be a very good player for us.”
Alex said
“I saw what Oxford are building as a club, spoke to the Manager and knew this was a good club to come to. I am looking forward to coming in on Saturday to join the first day of pre-season and really can’t wait to play a part in what I am sure will be a very successful season here.”
