There was good news as well as bad for midfielder Shandon Baptiste after a scan revealed the true extent of the damage to his dislocated shoulder today.
Shandon damaged the shoulder during the draw at Bristol Rovers and will have an operation on Monday which should rectify the problem and reduce the risk of it happening again, although he still faces being out of the side until the new year.
Manager Karl Robinson told us:
“It’s a blow because he has been brilliant all season and has a fantastic attitude. Initially it looked like four to six months to get him back playing again but the operation will reduce that to three or four months; that’s still not great but the way the operation is being done is specifically to stop it happening again in the future so it’s something we know will be of benefit in the long term both to Shandon and to Oxford United because we see him as a player with a very bright future.”
