Oxford United look to make it back to back wins when they travel to Bristol Rovers on Saturday. A win over Plymouth last Saturday lifted United off the bottom of the table and win at the Gas would be the perfect follow up for Manager Karl Robinson and his team.
“I don’t think you celebrate one win” Karl told iFollow earlier today. “It’s OK saying it’s great and we did well, but one win doesn’t change where we are in the league too much. It has to be a series of wins. So we have been very calm about it and nobody is getting too carried away. I have always asked to be judged when everyone is fit - I know we have a very good team then. We are slowly getting the players that we want on to the pitch and I think people saw a very good performance last week.
"People were saying we just had to get any old win but no, you want to play well and show what a good team you can be.
“We know we have a difficult game on Saturday. I remember going there to see Charlton play there and win something like 5-1 and the Rovers Manager got applauded off the pitch. He was apologising but it just shows how supportive their fans are at all times. We know we will have to be at our best because they have got some top players right the way through their team.
“They had an overhaul in the summer and perhaps haven’t quite gelled yet but we know they play a number of different systems and keep you guessing about the way they are going to play so you have to try and maybe keep them guessing as well.”
United will be without the suspended Cameron Brannagan as well as injured Jon Obika
“That’s two out from Saturday” Karl said “but Samir Carruthers is fitter than last week, Marcus Browne is fitter than last week, Jamie Mackie is fitter and Gavin Whyte comes back into the fold as well so we are only without the two players recovering from cruciate injuries, Rob Hall and Jon Obika.”
