Oxford United welcome Crystal Palace to the Kassam Stadium on Saturday in the first home pre-season friendly.
It’s a chance for Karl Robinson’s new look side to test themselves against Roy Hodgson's Premier League Eagles, and Karl can’t wait for the game, as he told us earlier today:
“It will be a really good test for us. I know Roy very well and he is one of the most respected managers in the country so we know he will bring a strong side here and it will be a really good game for the fans to enjoy.
“But it is also an important step up for us as we prepare for Barnsley on the opening day. We have a lot of new faces; many of them like Samir Carruthers, Luke Garbutt and Tony McMahon have played in the Premier League and Championship so they will be keen to make a big impression, especially on their home debuts.
“Jamie Mackie is another with Premier League games under his belt although I’m not sure we will risk him at the weekend. He has been working hard but not had much game time so we may have to ease him in, but hopefully Gavin Whyte’s paperwork comes through and we are then at full strength.”
