Work is gathering pace on the fantastic new training ground at Oxford United.
The U’s will have a brand new home from the middle of this month with the new training centre progressing nicely on Horspath Road.
Karl Robinson’s first team are away in Ireland, the under 23s are at Lilleshall and the under 18s in Devon, but all will be reunited and rehoused in a couple of week’s time in their new home which features 3G areas, goalkeeping zones, spacious dressing rooms and offices as well as a new restaurant, meeting rooms, classrooms for the scholars and a presentatiuon theatre for analysis.
The inside plasterboarding is on schedule to be finished by the weekend, the outside cladding will be next. Carpets, furniture and fittings will be installed next week and then once the branding and signs go up it will be ready for action.
Karl told us:
“It’s good to see the pictures and see the progress being made. We are in touch all the time to get updates and make suggestions of what we need; all departments of the club.
"I have taken a few players there this summer to show them around and I do think it has a bearing on things because this is where the players will spend most of their time: they are there five or six days a week so you want everything, from the surroundings and equipment to the food and the pitches to be right.
“Everything is on schedule and we can’t wait to move in to our new home and really getting set for the new season.”
