Hylton, O'Dowda and Roberts Take the Plaudits

Trio take the titles at the Kassam Stadium

Danny Hylton and Callum O’Dowda were the big winners at tonight’s Annual Awards Evening.

Striker Hylton, already the winner of the Oxvox Supporters’ Player of the Year award, was also presented with the Polythene UK Players’ Player of the Year trophy and the Buildbase Golden Boot for his sixteen goals so far in his first season at the club. O’Dowda capped a memorable year with the Jack Casley Young Player of the Year Award, sponsored by Purely Platinum as well as winning the Isinglass Community Contribution Award.

All of the players drew praise for their work in the community but O’Dowda has also voluntarily returned to his former school Gosford Hill to coach and help with the school football team.

James Roberts was the winner of the Goal of the Season trophy for his stunning strike away at Plymouth while there was a special award for father and daughter Hugh and Cheryl Howells who were joint winners of the Club Person of the Year. Since 2004 Hugh and Cheryl have been at every home game to co-ordinate the ballboys and ball girls on matchdays. After over a decade they have decided to step back and enjoy games in the stands as fans once again, and they are welcome back any time.

Over 250 people were at the awards night, enjoying a two course meal with Chairman Darryl Eales and Chief Executive Mark Ashton thanking everyone for their support throughout the season and looking forward to the next.
