Sahara stays longer with The U's as they prepare for WSL2
Oxford United Women are delighted to announce that club captain Sahara Osborne-Ricketts has signed a new deal which will keep her at the club for the next year, with the option of a further one-year extension.
The 22-year-old former Reading, Arsenal and Watford centre-back captained United to the South West Combination title last season and said she is looking forward to continuing the club's success in the FA Women's Super League.
“I'm pleased to have signed another deal with Oxford,” she said. “Obviously, it's a great step for me as we're going to be in the Super League next year and I just can't wait to get started and playing now. The steps the club took to get us into the Super League have been massive, it's very professional and all the hard work behind the scenes is just incredible. I'm just happy to be part of a club like this.”
Manager Richard Blackmore was pleased to see Sahara commit her future to the club. He said:
“She was last year's captain and she has good experience in the national Women's Premier League as well, so she's an influential player for us. She's a good leader, she's a very good communicator, she does lead by example and she works exceptionally hard on the pitch. She just wants to win and she is a winner.”
