Michael Raynes ruled out as Oxford United welcome AFC Wimbledon
United will be forced to make changes as they welcome AFC Wimbledon to the Kassam Stadium on Saturday in Sky Bet League 2
United play at the Kassam Stadium for the first time since Chris Wilder’s departure and Mickey Lewis takes charge of the U’s for the first time in over a decade as they welcome a Dons side just two places outside the play-off places.
The U’s picked up a useful point at Exeter on Tuesday night to follow up last weekend’s win over Torquay but it came at a price with defender Michael Raynes having to come off injured at half time after a blow to the side.
“He won’t play on Saturday” Mickey Lewis told Yellow Player. “Michael was in agony at half time. Typical of the lad he wanted to go out there and play the second half but he is still having treatment so he’s unavailable. Matt Bevans came on and did well and whoever plays we will be looking to keep this little run going and get another win.”
Bevans stands by for his home debut while experienced striker Dave Kitson remains a major doubt with an ankle problem.
“Dave is a lot better and we will wait and see with that one. He is very doubtful for Saturday but things have settled down with the injury and he should be back soon now.”
