Ice hockey team Oxford City Stars announce partnership with The Yellow Army

Oxford City Stars and Oxford United fans organization the Yellow Army have announced a new partnership agreement.

The table-topping ice hockey team already have a sporting partnership in place with Oxford United, and this additional tie-up with Oxford United’s supporters further cements the friendship between the city's sporting representatives.

The cooperation will see a new flag proudly displayed at Oxford United matches by the Yellow Army, incorporating both teams badges with the words “Oxfordshire United” emblazoned on it.  In addition the Yellow Army are sponsoring Oxford City Stars defender and Oxford United fan Joe Oliver.

Further benefits to Oxford United fans are that for specific games this season, the Stars will be offering reduced ticket prices to Oxford United season ticket and match day ticket stub holders.

Joe Nicholls of the Yellow Army said “We know so many United fans also watch the ice hockey and also the great work both clubs have done for Oxford charity Special Effect, so it made sense to organise a partnership in some way. We at the Yellow Army are focussed on improving the match day experience for fans and we’re really pleased to link up with the Stars fans who also have the same goals and passion. These clubs aren’t just sports teams for people who live in Oxfordshire, they’re a way of life, and celebrating that passion is what this partnership is all about.”

Star’s Joe Oliver added "As an Oxford lad, I've always followed Oxford United's fortunes, I love playing ice hockey, representing my city and the county, so to be chosen as the player that the mighty Yellow Army have sponsored this season makes me very proud. Getting the increased support and backing of Oxford's most passionate supporters is just brilliant."

The first of the reduced ticket matches for Oxford fans is on Sunday 3rd November, face off at 6:15 v. Invicta Mustangs. Oxford United fans will receive 50 per cent off entry when they show an Oxford United season ticket or match day ticket stub.

The match is also being attended by Oxford United representatives and will include local charity Special Effect as guests. The Night is being billed as “Oxfordshire United Night”.
