Oxford United U18s will be taking on the Cobblers this Saturday as they look to build on a successful away trip to Bromley.
The Young U’s have had a mixed start to the campaign, getting underway with a convincing 3-0 win at home against Luton, but then suffering a 4-1 defeat at the hands of Cambridge.
They did, however, react positively as they travelled to Bromley for an U21s game which was made up of the U18s with a couple of third years. The U’s took on a much older side, including a 25-year-old and a number of older players. The game was tight, but a Mubarak Abolade screamer curling into the top-left corner gave the Yellows a massive win and boost of confidence, showing true grit at Hayes Lane Stadium.
The Cobblers will come into this game unbeaten in the league, starting with wins against Pompey and Bristol. However, they had a difficult start in the group stage of the cup, suffering a 5-0 hammering away at MK Dons.
Kick-off will be at 10:30am and it should be a well-fought contest.
