Oxford United are delighted to have signed 27-year-old forward, Siriki Dembele on a permanent deal from Birmingham City.
Dembele started his professional career with Grimsby Town before spending four successful seasons with Peterborough United.
Following this, Dembele also spent two seasons at Bournemouth in the Championship and Premier League, with spells then at Auxerre in Ligue 1 and more recently Birmingham City.
The Ivory Coast-born forward now joins Des Buckingham’s side on a long-term contract and goes straight into the training group ahead of Saturday’s home clash with Preston North End.
Speaking after signing for United, Dembele said: “I’m so glad, Oxford are back in the Championship now and the club is looking to go somewhere and I’m excited to be here.
“Haven spoken to Des and Ed, the ideas they have to take the club somewhere is what excited me to come here.
“I have played against Oxford a few times and it looks like an exciting time for the team, so that’s why I have signed and now I want to do something big with the club.”
Head Coach, Des Buckingham said: “We are delighted to have landed Siriki on a permanent contract as we continue to strengthen the team.
“He is a player with proven quality at this level and above and his football style compliments our attacking play.
“Siriki is exactly the type of profile that we were looking to bring in at this stage of the window. He is a player that can come straight into the group and make a difference, and we are all excited to see him in action.”
Head of Football Operations, Ed Waldron said: “To bring in a player of Siriki’s quality is a real testament to what we are doing here as a football club.
“As a recruitment department, we have watched Siriki for some time and it is extremely exciting to bring in someone of his ability.
“We hope he can bring another dimension to our attack and be a real key player for us in this season and beyond.”
