Oxford United travel to Coventry City this evening (8pm) for their first away game in the Championship this season. The match is to be shown live on Sky Sports Football, with coverage starting at 7.30pm.

OXFORD UNITED

Following two successive 2-0 home wins, against Norwich City in the league and Peterborough United in the Carabao Cup, the U's go to the Coventry Building Society Arena full of confidence.

United manager Des Buckingham said: "We know Coventry will pose a very strong threat. We made eight changes for the Peterborough game to give players the chance to show that they can play, which was pleasing. So we've tried to make sure we have everyone going into the same space going into tomorrow to move on into game two, and build on what has been a good start.

"[Mark Robins] has put together a really strong side. Last season they challenged for the play-off spots and got themselves to the FA Cup semi-final. The manager's been able to put together a really good team, with good individual players who are clear on what they do. We will respect them because they have a good way of doing things, but we need to make sure we keep doing what we want to do and showcase what we're about."

You can see the full interview with Des Buckingham on the Oxford United Official YouTube site.

United have no new injury worries going into tomorrow's game, with just Will Goodwin and possibly Owen Dale unavailable, while Dane Scarlett will be hoping to be involved for the first time since joining on loan from Tottenham Hotspur.

COVENTRY CITY

Sky Blues' manager Mark Robins said: ""I think we've got nearly 30,000 for the first home game. It's a brilliant opportunity for us to enjoy it. We've got to work really hard, and we've got to be on it, but it's a good opportunity to have a really good evening with our home support - as long as we do things right.

"They'll make it difficult, awkward, put you in positions which as a team you don't want to be in, but we need to focus on us and what we can do. There are some really good signs. We've just got to keep working in the same way and looking to improve."

TICKETS

This match is ALL TICKET with no sales available on the day. Please do not travel without a valid match ticket.

Please be aware that the CBS Arena is cashless.

GETTING THERE

We have been advised by CrossCountry that from last Saturday 10 August they have introduced a temporary timetable across their network which will see fewer trains in operation across the network, meaning there are only 2 pre-match services to Coventry, and there will only be one remaining service from Coventry towards Oxford after this match has finished.

All customers planning on travelling by rail from Oxford should consider alternative means of transport this weekend. It’s likely that those who do decide to travel by train will find the one remaining service very busy and they may not be able to board.

Those who do travel by train should check before travelling at the CrossCountry website or at www.nationalrail.co.uk

PARKING can be purchased at  https://coventryparking.co.uk/football/events/aug-24/home-fixture-11 subject to availability.
