Oxford United Academy Scholars spent the day at Planet Recruitment for a Career’s Day, learning how sports can transfer into a sales environment.
The young U’s were given two tasks competing in teams: designing and pitching a home shirt for next season, and creating a CV for a football manager, pitching to a League One club.
Graham Cole from Planet Recruitment said
“Although the dream will always be to play at the highest level, the idea is that there are some massive transferable skills in the working environment.
“As they are now young adults, it’s important that they consider their options at an important time in their lives.”
James Constable, Head of Academy Player Care said
“It’s been brilliant to come down today to get the boys to be involved in these environments to give them that exposure.
“The boys have been great and have really enjoyed the opportunity and it’s been good to see them get involved with that competitive edge.
“It’s so important, especially for an ex-player who didn’t have these chances when I played, to deliver these opportunities for players and help them improve as footballers but as people off the field as well.
“A big thank you to Planet Recruitment for allowing us to come down to their offices. Graham, Barry, Ollie and the team were brilliant and went above and beyond to make it a day to remember.”
