Oxford United take on Port Vale away on Saturday afternoon in Sky Bet League One action.
Manager Des Buckingham knows how important a reaction following Tuesday night’s defeat will be.
“There’s been a good reaction off the back of obviously a lot of disappointment on Tuesday night for many reasons. But that disappointment needs to and will be turned into making sure we prepare and come out firing on Saturday.
“That's the most important thing and that's what we've spoken about today and it's something that we will look to do come kick-off on Saturday.
“We don't want to go anywhere and perform that way, especially off the back of what felt like we had turned a corner. We will make sure that those things that don't happen again, it was not acceptable and that's as simple as that.
“Port Vale have got a change of manager, so they've got different ways that they're trying to work now as well, and they'll be fighting for points for different reasons than we are. But again, it's very much about us and making sure that we apply ourselves.
“We will get ourselves right and ready so that the players start this game as well as we can, and we finish as strongly as we can, and we stay on it for the full 90 or 95 minutes.
“There’s a lot of teams that have been on runs and teams that have come off the back of them. There's some that are currently on them that I'm sure will end at some point. It's about making sure that we start ours and that's the plan for Saturday.”
