Oxford United are pleased to announce that Thames Travel have agreed to operate an additional bus on the OX3 route for the next few Saturday league games starting this weekend for the visit of current leaders Exeter City.
The club and the bus company will then review the numbers travelling before deciding how to continue. This follows the numbers wishing to travel on the OX3 Carterton/Witney Football Special bus for the Charlton Athletic match exceeding the vehicle's capacity regrettably resulting in some supporters not able to be picked up.
The Football Special services provide a crucial link to the Kassam Stadium for football supporters from across Oxfordshire.
Fares for match day services are included in the Government’s bus fare cap scheme. This means the maximum fare is just £2 for a single bus fare until 31st October 2023 after which time they will rise to a maximum of £2.50.
Thames Travel provide the OX2, OX3 and OX7 services for all home league games and additional services for selected cup games. The buses will not be running for this evening’s EFL Trophy fixture against MK Dons.
The OX2 begins in Didcot with stops in Great Western Park, Steventon, Drayton and Abingdon. The OX3 service bring supporters to and from United home games from Witney, Carterton, Brize Norton, Curbridge, Witney, Eynsham and Botley with the OX7 picking up in Kidlington, Summertown, Marston, Cowley and Headington.
Supporters will have noticed that essential repairs are being carried out at the A34 Botley Interchange overnight on many evenings over the next six weeks.
Tonight, when we play MK Dons and on Tuesday 3rd October when Shrewsbury are the visitors National Highways have agreed that closures and work will not commence until 11pm to minimise disruption to fans returning after the games.
