Oxford United Women’s midfielder Taome Oliver made her 50th appearance for the club during United’s excellent 2-1 victory over Ipswich Town Women on the weekend.
Taome is playing in her third spell at the club, and we caught up with her at training on Tuesday night to discuss her time with the U’s
“It feels great to make my mark with the team. I’ve obviously been here for quite a while, so it’s really positive and I’ve just really enjoyed my time here and it's nice to get that recognition.
“It was a really enjoyable game to be part of and I think it was a great team performance overall. Everyone played their part; defensively, we were strong and then obviously we made the most of our chances. It was a really, really good performance and great to make my 50th appearance in a positive game.
“There's been a lot of improvements in the women's game, and you can see that as I’ve been here. Starting off I was quite young, so I've kind of grown with the club as well, which has been nice, but there's been a lot of changes and you can kind of see it growing and growing every season.
“It's enjoyable to see that and hopefully it carries on progressing so that the younger generation are there with us, supporting us and they can reap the benefits in the future.
“I can't really think back to a time I haven’t enjoyed being at Oxford and I look back on it really positively with great memories, and I can't be happier that I joined the club when I did and I’ve been able to grow with the team and the club.
“I enjoy being someone in the team that the younger players can lean on a little bit. I like to encourage the team. Communication wise, you can probably always hear me on the side of the pitch so I'm happy to take on that role with the team and be that support as well.
Taome and the rest of the squad will be in midweek action away to Cheltenham Town Ladies at Kayte Lane on Thursday night.
