United’s winless run continued on Saturday despite an improved performance at Lincoln City.
A first half penalty meant the U’s lost 1-0 at the LNER Stadium but as Skipper Elliott Moore told iFollow after the game, the players now need to stick together and work even harder as they welcome Derby County to the Kassam Stadium on Saturday.
"It’s a results business" he said. "We can take a lot of positives away from the game and I think everyone could see the amount of chances we had, the possession we had and so on. That’s all great, but ultimately we need to win and we need to take our chances.
"It came at the end of a very difficult week but as players we just have to get our heads down and work. The staff have emphasised that all week, that we just have to get on with it, work as hard as we can and put the effort in on the training pitch. I think that showed today so we are really disappointed not to get anything after that. But we know how many games we have left and we know we have got to dig deep.
"Things have been going against us but we created a lot more than we have been doing in recent weeks and if we keep doing that we know things will come for us. But it’s a case of having the confidence, keep having the belief and then we go again at home to Derby on Saturday."
