There was a full league debut on Saturday for Oisin Smyth who gave a typically fully committed performance in the 1-1 draw at Morecambe.
The Irish midfielder has had to be patient for his chance but made the most of it and certainly left all he had on the pitch, as he told iFollow.
“I was busted at the end” he laughed “But that’s me, I’m always going to give everything I can for the team. Unfortunately we couldn’t get the three points today but we are still going to keep putting in the effort. We have only had four training sessions under the new Gaffer so things are only going to get better for us and we just have to keep going.
“I don’t think confidence will be an issue. Everyone out there is fully committed to what we are trying to do and what the gameplan is. But as I said, it’s only been four days so far and we gave ourselves something to build from today.
“The intensity was there and we train like that every day. We never slack off in training and for me the more games I play then hopefully the more I can contribute. I have had to be patient and wait for my chance and that means I am more determined than ever to make the most of any opportunities I get now. It’s not about me though, it’s all about the team and we have to push on and get some wins under our belt.
“The travelling fans were amazing and we thank them for that. Having no game next weekend is frustrating but equally it gives us two weeks now where we can train and work on things with the new Gaffer. I think that will work in our favour for the games we still have to play.”
