Oxford United forward Yanic Wildschut will fly out to Florida next week to join up with the Suriname national squad for their Concacaf Gold Cup campaign.
Yanic, who has three caps for his country and scored one of their goals during qualification, will join the squad from 16th June with the team facing Puerto Rico in a first knock-out game to go through to face the winners of Martinique v Saint Lucia, with a place in Group C alongside Costa Rica, Panama, and El Salvador awaiting the winners of that match.
Yanic told us
“It’s a big honour and I am looking forward to it. I have continued training since the season ended and feel ready. I hope we can do well and then I report back to Oxford and join in pre-season fully fit and ready to go.”
