Oxford United Introduce New City ‘Icons’

As a club, Oxford United are immensely proud of the role we play within our local community and the opportunity football gives us to represent the city of Oxford, along with the wider Oxfordshire region.

Oxford is intrinsic to our identity, and the city’s influence connects our crest, our supporters, our players, and our people.

Over the last week, our social channels have highlighted a series of ‘icons’ chosen by you, the supporters, that represent who we are and where we’re from.

We will be introducing these new icons across the club over the coming months in recognition of what it means to be from Oxford, as symbols of our identity and to build on the relationship between our beautiful city and historic club.

And no, we’re not changing our crest…….!

The five icons being introduced are:

Manor Arch
The archway that led supporters up to the beloved Manor Ground.

Ox on the Ford
A symbol of Oxford and found in the original Headington United crest.

Radcliffe Camera
A building synonymous with Oxford University making up part of our world-famous ‘Dreaming Spires’.

Headington Shark
An art sculpture and tourist attraction found in Headington that depicts a shark in the roof of a house.

Mini
Oxford was the birthplace of the original Mini in 1959. Located next to our Training Ground in Cowley, as many as 4,500 employees help assemble this cult British car.
