United’s poor run of results continued with a defeat at home to the league leaders last night as Plymouth Argyle won 3-1 at the Kassam Stadium.
“We more than matched the best team in the division for the majority of the game and we have to look at the positives and move on to Saturday” striker Sam Baldock told iFollow.
Sam is making his way back into the side after an injury-hit season but his experience could prove vital as the U’s look to turn things around, starting at Cambridge on Saturday.
“I have been in similar positions before but possibly they didn’t come as unexpectedly as this one” he said. “When I look around the dressing room and the squad we have and then look at some of the performances and how the results have ended, we shouldn’t be on a run like this but we are and now we have to stick together.
“Tonight there were two teams in contrasting form. The chances go in for you when you are in good form and unfortunately we are at the other end of that at the minute. We worked hard and we are trying to work our way through this run, fight our way through it in whatever way we can.
“It’s not happening for us at the minute but we won’t give up.
"Home truths are bing told where they are needed to be and I think the boys are looking around that dressing room at each other and thinking “I trust you. I back you. Let’s go again”. We feel like we are close to a big turning point, it’s just that we need it to come sooner rather than later. It will turn and it’s not through a lack of effort or desire from the boys.”
