Oxford United Women are delighted to announce the signing of midfielder Jenna Legg. The 25 year old joins the U’s having played last at Norwegian Professional side Amazon Grimstad.
The midfielder also has experience in the Women’s Championship with Charlton Athletic, before moving to Watford Women in 2021.
U’s fans may recognise Jenna, who spent preseason with Oxford this year.
“I had such a positive experience playing here over the summer, and I’ve kept an eye on the great work the team have been doing. There’s a real buzz around the club and what they’re building right now and I’m so excited to be a part of that.
“My time in Norway was great. I was super lucky to be welcomed into a team with a real competitive but supportive environment and that allowed me to thrive. I loved learning about a new culture and experiencing something different. I’ve come back with such a hunger to succeed, and I feel ready to do that here” said Legg.
What can fans expect from Jenna as a player?
“I love to get on the ball, link up with others, and be creative. I’m very determined and will always work my hardest for the team. I think I can bring the experience from across the different leagues I have played in to help end this season on a high.
“The foundations are all in place for this club to achieve great things. The staff and the girls have shown what they are about in the first half of the season; I think it’s all about maintaining that hard work and making sure we have that edge to get this group over the line.
“It’s felt like quite a natural transition for me which is a testament to the culture the staff and the girls have created here. I’ve felt really welcomed by everyone since being back and I think that togetherness will only help drive this team on. We’ve had some top sessions as a team and I can’t wait to get back on the pitch now!”
U’s Manager Liam Gilbert said
“Jenna’s a fantastic person and a brilliant player. It’s great to get her back with us and she’ll add a different dynamic for us when she’s up and running. The younger players that we’ve got will be able to learn with her.
“Her mentality and attitude is spot on and the couple of weeks she’s been training we’ve seen that. We hope that drives others through as every other new signing has done and brought the standards up even further.”
Catch Jenna and the rest of the squad in action as they travel to Cheltenham Town Ladies in the FAWNL Southern Premier Division this Sunday, the 5th of February.
