Oxford United will look to bounce back this week after an opening day defeat at Cambridge.
United get an instant chance to put things right with games at Bristol City on Wednesday and then a first home game, against Carlisle United, at the Kassam Stadium on Saturday.
“Every game in this league is tough and coming to Cambridge was always going to be hard” midfielder Josh McEachran told iFollow. “To give them a goal like we did made them even more compact and hard to break down. But for me, and for everyone, we need to step up in the tough moments. This was the first of those so we have to bounce back now next week.
“Coming off the back of a very good pre-season we were all gutted in the changing room after. Nobody likes losing the opening game of the season. We always knew it was going to be completely different to what we faced in the friendlies but I think it has woken us all up now.
"We need to get back, look at the positives, learn from the negatives and look forward to Wednesday night and then the first home game on Saturday.
“It’s down to every one of us to learn and improve.
“The fans were unbelievable. We heard them and they stayed to clap us after. We thank them for that. It is a very long season with 45 more games to go and I am really looking to seeing them when we give them much more to cheer about.”
