It’s a pivotal game at the top of the FAWNL Southern Premier Division; a win tomorrow would put the U’s three points away from becoming Champions, a loss or a draw would mean it would be a three-horse race with two games to play.
Where the Women’s Development Squad had success in Burton winning the FAWNL Reserve Cup Final, Watford lost 3-2 in extra time to Nottingham Forest in the League Cup Final on Sunday.
This fixture has been postponed twice due to a waterlogged pitch at Watford’s home ground, but this time it has been arranged to be played under the lights at Vicarage Road.
U’s skipper Riva Casley knows that they will have to be on it from the get-go tomorrow night
“We’ve been waiting for this game for over a month now, so we’ve had that excitement for a long time. It’s nice to actually have the game on and we’ve done the prep three times so we’re buzzing and we know what we’ve got to do.
“We are set out in our ways and the mentality is spot on. We know it’s just another 95-minute game that we’ve got to get past.
“I think the unity has got us this far more than anything. We are so together as a group, when a couple of us have had injuries or personal issues, we’re all together as one. That’s pulled us through the tough times as a group.
“Losing to Cheltenham, losing to Bristol, those could’ve been important times for us in the season but we’ve come together as such a good group to make the changes we needed and we’ve put ourselves in top spot which is incredible.
“We love our fan base, I know some of us have got really close with a few of the fans and they’re a massive, massive support for us. We have people who travel really far and our fan base has become a part of our big family.
“They massively helped us in Portsmouth and we’re going to need you even more on Thursday night.
Come along and get behind the U’s in what could be a momentous night in the title race.
