LAST WORD: Simon Eastwood on Peterborough

Oxford United fought their way to another important point with a 0-0 draw at Peterborough on Saturday, a second draw on the road and a welcome clean sheet for the first time in 18 games.

“I thought we dug in well” Keeper Simon Eastwood told iFollow. “They were coming at us towards the end, we knew they would, but I thought in the first half we gave it a good go and it was pretty even in a possession based game. But it was nice to get another point and it gives us something to build from.

“In the position we are in every single point counts. With the attacking threats that Peterborough have it’s not a bad point at all. I thought the fans were right behind us which was great to hear and they all knew what a big point that one might be.

“The clean sheet is good but to be honest I just want to win a game. As a keeper the clean sheet is your number one thing but right now if we won 5-4 I’d take that instead!

“Credit to the Manager who has come in and worked with us on a few things. We had a little bit more structure in our shape today and every single player worked really hard. The Manager told us after the game that the stats showed it was the furthest the players had run all season. It’s no coincidence when everyone is working together as a team, staying together, staying compact.

“Now we have Sheffield Wednesday on Good Friday. We have some big games coming up - eight really big matches. Hopefully we keep picking up points, keep hearing the fans getting behind us, and hopefully that next win is just around the corner.”
