It will be a busy couple of weeks for the Oxford United backroom team as they help two fantastic causes by pushing themselves to the limit.
On April 23rd Head of Medical Amy Cranston will be running the London Marathon to raise funds for our friends at Helen & Douglas House.
A week later we are pleased to say that another member of staff will be helping another great charity when Dan Busch takes part in the Hyrox Challenge, raising money for MacMillan Cancer Support.
Dan is the Academy Athletic Performance Coach, working on strength and conditioning with the nine to sixteen age groups. On May Day he will be testing his own strength and conditioning in a gruelling Hyrox Challenge which will see him run 8km with a different physical test after each kilometre.
“it's a pretty brutal challenge” he told us “Every time you run a kilometre you come up to a station and one of the stations could be 1000m on the skier, 150 kg sled pull, lots of really tough stations basically.
“I thought, I'd like to test myself so why not do it for a great cause? Macmillan Cancer Support do an amazing job and so many people will rely on them at some stage in their lives. I think that will keep me going, knowing who I am helping and why I am pushing myself in this way.”
