Oxford United would like to thank supporters, staff and our opponents Wycombe Wanderers for their help and understanding during a medical situation that delayed yesterday’s game by 45 minutes.
A supporter became seriously unwell after 15 minutes of the match but thanks to the swift action of the safety and medical teams he received immediate attention and was taken to hospital in Oxford. The club would like to place on record our thanks to the stewards and both the crowd medical team and the First Team medical staff who attended the incident.
We would also like to thank Wycombe Wanderers for their help, and the match officials for their expert handling of a very difficult situation.
Having spoken to the supporter’s wife this morning she also thanked all involved although her husband remains in hospital. Our best wishes go to him and all of his family and friends.
We would also like to thank both sets of supporters. The biggest crowd of the season, just over 10,000, were there to enjoy the game and every fan in the ground behaved with compassion and understanding of the situation.
